Privacy Policy

Who are we?

Welcome to the Glimpse App (“Our” or “We”) Privacy Policy. We set out to make product browsing as easy, fun and accessible as possible, and we don’t intend to stop here. Throughout this policy, we will look to provide you with all the information that you need to know regarding the personal data we collect, how it is used and the rights you have as an individual. This policy is specifically relating to the use of personal information processed within the Glimpse mobile application, and does not cover information processed via 3rd parties (including online retailers).

What information do we collect?

At Glimpse, we are very conscious of the trust you place in us to both protect, and collect only the necessary personal information required to make your user experience the best it can be. As a result, we both minimize and anonymise specific information where possible to safely provide you with such services. So what information do we currently collect about you, and why?

Sign Up

It is possible to sign up to Glimpse through multiple channels, all of which require your personal information to enable you to log into the app. This includes the following information:

  • Email Address 
  • Name
  • Gender
  • Profile Image

The following information is collected at an aggregated, and therefore anonymised level:

  • Age 
  • Location
How do we collect and use your information?

Most of the personal information we process is provided to us directly by you at the point of signing up to use Glimpse for the following reasons:

  • Email Address – Mandatory information required as a point of contact, authentication of account and profile setup.
  • Name – Information used to identify you as an individual on the social media aspect of the application. 
  • Gender – An optional field collected to tailor your browsing.
  • Profile Image – Depending upon your personal preferences, your profile picture may be classified as your personal data i.e. the image chosen identifies a living individual. This is not a mandatory field, and you are able to populate this with either an image of yourself, providing it doesn’t breach the requirements laid out within our Terms of Use policy, or use of a pre populated avatar. 
  • Age – To enable us to tailor your browsing to trends emerging from other users within your age bucket.
  • Location – We collect the first part of your postcode to identify the approximate area in which you live. This is used to identify trends in your area, as well as directing you to localised retailers.

We also receive personal information indirectly, from the following sources in the following scenarios:

Facebook , Google and Apple– We are all busy, and want to get using Glimpse as quickly as we can, we have therefore provided our users with the option to use your Facebook, Google or Apple accounts, which takes you user information to sign up to Glimpse with.

Who do we share your information with?

We may share this information with retailers and third parties, however this will only be at an anonymised and aggregated level. We will only share personal information with third parties if it is in relation to a product or service in which you have expressed an interest in, and would be processed under the grounds of legitimate business interest.

How do we legally process your information?

Under the Data Protection Act 2018 (UK DPA18) and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the lawful bases we rely on for processing your information are: 

  • Your consent – Information passed onto third party providers to enable them to contact you with offers to products relating to those you have previously expressed an interest with. You are able to remove your consent at any time, and can do so by contacting the email address at the end of this statement; and
  • We have a legitimate interest – All mandatory information used as part of the sign up process.
How do we store your information?

Your information is securely stored within an Amazon Web Server (“AWS”) database, located within Ireland, EU. 

We keep the personal data outlined within this privacy statement for a period of 3 years after you were last active on Glimpse, or one year after you have deleted your account.  We will then dispose of your information by automated deletion from our database.

If you would like to delete your personal data, this can be done by emailing dataprotection@glimpseapp.co.uk and requesting for your personal data to be deleted.

Data transfers are conducted via encrypted Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure (“HTTPS”) connections between the AWS database and the application.

What are your rights?

Under data protection law, you have rights including:

  • Your right of access – You have the right to ask us for copies of your personal information. 
  • Your right to rectification – You have the right to ask us to rectify personal information you think is inaccurate. You also have the right to ask us to complete information you think is incomplete. 
  • Your right to erasure – You have the right to ask us to erase your personal information in certain circumstances. 
  • Your right to restriction of processing – You have the right to ask us to restrict the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances. 
  • Your right to object to processing – You have the the right to object to the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.
  • Your right to data portability – You have the right to ask that we transfer the personal information you gave us to another organisation, or to you, in certain circumstances.

You are not required to pay any charge for exercising your rights. If you make a request, we have one month to respond to you.
